Breeding is in full swing 02/06/2012
We are happy to report that all of our Rhacodactylus and Uroplatus geckos have been paired for the 2012 breeding season. So far, everything is going well. None of the crested geckos have dropped their tails or are being bullied. We were particularly worried about some of our chahoua pairings, but they are going well also. Not to jinx it, but we are also looking forward to the prospect of an early spring. We have a lot of geckos waiting to go out to their new homes; it'll be nice to get them on their way, hopefully sooner than we expected. We may end up taking out this blog feature as we have created a facebook page for our business. If you haven't 'liked' Gekkonidazed on facebook...well then what are you waiting for. Check it out. :) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gekkonidazed-Geckos/244461825622371 Add Comment Winter finally decided to grace us with her presence, so we've been using our 'stuck in the house time' to update pictures of our geckos. I am really hoping we can get pictures of all of our breeding chahoua taken and on our site this week. Some of the geckos need their photos updated in the worst way. Take a moment to stop by our availability page and see what geckos we have posted. Right now I have all of the crested geckos on there, and hopefully soon all the chahoua. Hopefully winter goes quickly! Our next reptile show isn't until April, and that seems like forever away right now. Website updates 12/17/2011
Wow, it's been a while since we updated our site. I've got new pics of our satanics, vieillaridi, and some of the crested geckos. Now to just get Kyle to update pics of our chahoua... Our Naberius died this week, and we're not entirely sure why. He was our male cork bark leaftailed gecko. Hopefully we can get our hands on a pair possibly this spring. We hope you enjoy our new mascot at the top of the website, Azazel. Pics on painted glass are so much fun! :) WIRE Reptile Show 09/11/2011
Today was a busy day at the Wisconsin Reptile Expo (WIRE) in Madison, WI. We saw lots of familiar faces in the vendors and show attendants. We sold a few geckos, and were able to donate to the raffle for the Madison Area Herpetological Society. The winners of our gift certificats took home some nice little cresteds. As for other news here, not much has been happening. We have hatched a couple of clutches of chahoua, sarasinorum, and the next round of cresteds should make their appearance this week. I am hoping the female cresteds are about done laying, but we will see what happens. In sad news, our little Uroplatus sikorae hatchling passed away this week. He was completely active and ate plenty of roaches. We are still trying to figure out if it's something we are doing wrong, or it's just the nature of raising Uroplatus. There are plenty more eggs, so we hope to continue hatching them out and refining our husbandry. Next up is the Tinley Park NARBC in October. We are super stoked to be hanging out with Derek Dunlop and our other gecko peeps. We may bring some animals along, so if you are interested in anything, and are planning to make it to the show, definitely let one of us know. Sewerfest was fun 08/03/2011
We had a great time at Sewerfest this past weekend. Saw lots of familiar faces, and met lots of new people. We sold all of our extra corkbark and a couple of geckos. It was the first reptile show in a looong time we didn't come home gecko heavy! Unless, that is, you count Meg's new little PI chahoua we will be caring for. Man that thing is sweet! Today we hatched out our first R. leachianus, island e form. She's a whopping 5.1 grams! Hopefully the clutchmate will make an appearance soon. Check out the 2011 hatchlings page for pics! hatchlings galore! 07/23/2011
Wow, since my last update, we've hatched out a ton of geckos. Our first Laila/Tsu'tey eggs hatched and two beautiful chewlets were welcomed. We also hatched out two saras, our other garg egg, and three cresteds. I also added a couple of geckos to the availability page, so be sure to check those out as well. We are very excited for Sewerfest next weekend! We will be bringing animals and supplies. If you are interested in anything we have, be sure to email us before next Sunday. Waiting lists 07/13/2011
Hey Everyone, I am not sure if anyone reads my blogs, but we are currently putting together our waiting list for our offspring. If you are interested in a specific pairing, please let us know. We'd love to give you the opportunity to purchase an animal before we post it for general sale, or take it to a reptile show. Sending an email to gekkonidazed@hotmail.com is the easiest way to do that. :) Thanks! hatchling Uroplatus sikorae 06/30/2011
This guy hatched out on 6/25 from Nyx and Hades. Based on pattern, we are calling him a male. Males tend to have a lateral stripe. He's super healthy and robust, and has been eating his teeny tiny roaches like a champ! Now to come up with a name.... http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/that_girl83/Uroplatus/033r.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/that_girl83/Uroplatus/017r.jpg 2 new additions 06/24/2011
Busy past couple of weeks. 06/20/2011
Kyle and I had a super busy past couple of weeks. We had two major trips planned basically back to back, so we haven't been able to update the website much. First of all, we've had a couple of newbies to the Gekkonidazed family. We hatched out our very first gargoyle! He/She is super cute and we are very happy. We've also had a couple of crested hatch out, from Tezya and Tiegra. One of the Tiegra hatchlings looks like it's going to turn orange, which is very exciting. There have also been some sad times here too. We lost Honschel, our male Uroplatus lineatus. Kyle noticed a lot of roaches in the vivarium and when he took it apart, it was quite clear he hadn't eaten in a while. We aren't exactly sure why, but a few days later he was found dead. Hazel, his mate, is doing fine and eating well. She is working on regenerating her tail after losing it in the middle of a major thunderstorm. We also had the passing of our old girl, Artemis. She was purchased as a LTC adult at the Tinley NARBC show in 2007, so she was most likely at the top end of her lifespan. She was looking rough for a few days, finally I took her in to work with me last Friday morning, and Dr. Dawn gave her a swift end. And so continues the life and death cycle here with the geckos. The oldest chahoua eggs look great at 104 days, but I'm expecting them to go into the end of July. Can't wait to see those smiling faces! | GekkoniDazed GeckosKeep up with us by watching our blogs! We'll definitely try to update as often as possible. ArchivesFebruary 2012 |
